Even though electrical panels are designed to last for 25 or more years, there comes a time for every homeowner when an electrical panel upgrade may be necessary. There are a few common signs to look for that may indicate it’s time for an upgrade sooner rather than later.
1. Sparks Or Burning Odor
If you start to notice your electrical panel sparking, or if it smells like something is burning, then that’s a good indication an upgrade may be in your near future. Burnt odor, such as melting or burning, or a warm-to-the-touch panel are not good signs. This could indicate a risk of an electrical fire, and ignoring this problem could be dangerous.
